Great Scott Ice Cream was created from the desire to serve a mouthwatering, refreshing treat that is simple and healthy as well as socially and environmentally responsible. We strive to serve our products using locally sourced components as often as we can, and with an ingredient list an 8 year old can understand. Sure, parental guidance may be needed to sound out cardamom or lavender, but you get the idea. You won’t need a dictionary or a degree in chemistry to know what you’re eating. Our desserts are made with zero artificial colors or flavors, and with ingredients that have had very little to no processing or refinement. We also offer vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, nut free, and dairy free pops because we feel everyone should have the opportunity to find something in our cooler they will not only love, but that will love them back.
We are fortunate enough to live in a region that produces some of the best apples, blackberries, blueberries, celery, cherries, cranberries, cucumbers, grapes, peaches, pears, plums, pumpkins, raspberries, strawberries, sweet corn, and tomatoes in the world. Go ahead and catch your breath, we’ll wait. Did you catch that last part, “in the world”? Yeah, it gives us goose bumps to think about it too. That is an astounding amount of fresh, amazingly flavorful fruits and vegetables right here in our own backyard, just waiting for us to mastermind them into a couple minutes of frozen taste bud bliss. Since citrus and a few other things don’t grow in Michigan, we have also sought out growers and providers with the same high standards our local suppliers have for when we just can’t source locally. By only using the best ingredients, we know that what we provide to our friends, neighbors and guests will be second to none in flavor and will keep them asking for more.
